civicase challenges when upgrading civicrm
October 29, 2010, 08:38:29 am
i just upgraded one of our sites from 3.1.5 to 3.2.3. the only problems i had were all civicase related.

the first one that was noticed was that the Menu item "New Case" did not show up. the menu permissions had been changed and had to be reset.

the second one was an intermittent error when trying to access the civicase dashboard. in researching this one i realized that the upgrade procedure neglected to mention that the civicase configuration file would be written over in the process.

i copied the configuration folder from the backup, which thankfully i had, and the site started functioning normally.

  • CMS version: Drupal 6 mostly, still evaluating 7.
  • MySQL version: Mix of 5.0 / 5.1 / 5.5
  • PHP version: 5.3, usually on Windows

I remember the access problem being fixed (http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-6095) so not sure about that one.

For the configuration files, if you store them in your custom_templates path then they don't get overwritten.
