form and database help
November 01, 2010, 02:28:52 am
Hi,

Congrats on a great product. I am a new to CIVIcrm / drupal and have a couple of questions, I have installed drupal 619 with civi with danland template

I initially decided to create a profile(type /invidual/student/) from a civi html snippet in drupal to get students to profile themselves. on the form there are a couple of fields that didn't work properly and we had a lot of options in an auto complete file that was slow to load. I then noticed that I could enable Drupal User Registration View/Edit Drupal User Account which on create account provided a quick workable form, this on submission creates an individual contact in civi and a user in drupal with the student profile tab so users can edit there profiles which is what we want

would be nice to use the drupal register now form to do the same as the profile/ html snippet form does which is create a custom profile individual/student with the custom fields completed eg same data profile as in drupal.

Before I go and speak to the professional services I was Looking for feedback as to the best way of achieving this and hope I have explained it clearly,

Many thanks

Ian

Did you consider using Profile with "Create CMS User" feature?

Check Profile >> Advanced Settings: Drupal user account registration option?

Thanks for the reply, I have the Drupal "user account registration option?" enabled and the account with student profile is created in drupal with all the custom profile data and fields from civicrm.

on account creation an individual contact is created in civi crm but the custom data is not linked or searchable in civi only accessible through drupal user,

I hope this explains my problem

Are you talking about CiviCRM custom data? If yes then you can just make custom fields as searchable and they will be available in Advanced Search.
