Incoming imap or POP3 e-mail support
November 01, 2010, 12:01:22 pm
I am looking at integrating CiviCRM into my Drupal site. Does it support incoming e-mail. I have existing e-mail accounts on my web host.
Thanks,
- Jim

CiviCRM does check imap / pop3 accounts in some circumstances - ie. to check for CiviMail bounces or to create activities from e-mail if you are using that option but it doesn't store mail. That would not normally be the role of a website

Thanks for the reply, Eileen.
What I was hoping to do is also use CiviCRM as a central location my volunteers can access e-mail. They all share one "info request" account. I take it this isn't possible. It seems it would be a good feature to have.

I love all the other functionality CiviCRM offers!
Thanks,
- Jim

What you can do it to read all the email in that mailbox and create activities for the "info request in my org" contact (based on the email).

What is missing is to automatically put the email as an activity and let people "assign" the request to themselves. It isn't rocket science, but you will need to code it yourself (or sponsor the feature).
