Calendar won't open in setting up new event
November 02, 2010, 09:29:46 pm
I have a strange problem - I upgraded to 3.2.4 today and am having trouble creating a new event because the little calendar icons on my page won't pop up when I click them, nor can I enter the date manually.

This happens in both IE and Firefox.  The calendars all work fine on the demo site. Plus, I have a site still running 3.1.3, and the calendars work fine there.

Any idea what might cause a problem like this?

Thanks,

Tracey

Can you check what (if any) JavaScript errors are reported when you try to click the calendar widget? Also, please make sure templates cache is cleaned up after the upgrade.

Thx,
m

Michal:

Where is the template cache?  Based on my googling, I should be looking for a templates_c folder, and I don't have one.

Also, weirdly, the calendar widget works on my work computer but not my home one.  So a javascript error is a likely culprit.  I'll look into that when I get home tonight.

Thanks!

templates_c should be in Drupal's files directory, in civicrm/ subdir. You should be able to find full path to it in civicrm.settings.php. As for JavaScript problem, it might also be the browser cache issue, make sure you clean it up.

Okay, I've upgraded to 3.3.2 and am having the same problem.  There is some sort of javascript failure on the page (I see "Error on page" at the bottom), but I don't know exactly which script it is.  I got rid of everything in the templates_c folder and cleared my browser cache.  Any ideas?  This problem is happening in IE and Firefox and in Firefox on a Mac.

Try using FF with Firebug, it provides a much more useful error message (and in general, is a lifesaver if you want to develop)

What's the error message you get there ?

UPDATE:  I did a forum search on "date picker" and found a post that recommended checking my resource URLs.  I did, and they were wrong (the site was ported from one host to another intact).  Once I fixed that, the date picker works.   ;D ::)
