Don't run Email2activity, that's EmailProcessor the one that is maintained.

Could you update the doc if you saw it somewhere ?

In the wiki or somewhere, seems to be that Email2activity is described instead of EmailProcessor. This should be corrected if you stumble upon them.

As for your error, not sure, check the book, looks like you haven't properly setup the mail.

Try to follow these steps, might have missed something:

hi

already checked that site, did not find anything.

i made one mistake at installation. i put civicrm in /modules and not sites/all/modules

might this be a problem?

i just put civicrm in the right directory, but still got the same error message. so that wasnt the problem.

I had a similar problem that was occuring because my web host had traffic on port 993 blocked.  Ask your host to unblock port 993 (if your email account is SSL IMAP) and see if this resolves the problem.

You can test if the port is blocked by running the command in the shell:

$ openssl s_client -crlf -connect imap.gmail.com:993
or
% telnet imap.gmail.com 993

(one or the other should work)
