CiviCRM installer page not found
November 05, 2010, 02:02:56 pm
Hi,

I have CiviCRM 3.2, Drupal 6+ and PHP 5.2+

I've been following these instructions: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC32/CiviCRM+for+Drupal+-+Configure+Multi-site+Installations

I'm having a horrible time trying to figure out how to install Civi CRM in a multisite Drupal environment:

www.xxxx.com (sites/all)
members.xxx.com (sites/members.xxx.com)

members.xxx.com is the target for CiviCRM

I also use a symlink in the drupal document root to point to sites/members.xxx.com

The main problem is I get a page not found error when I try to find the installer at either:

http://members.xxx.com/sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php

http://www.xxx.com/sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php

????

I also followed the 'special' hack instructions to add a 'settings_location.php' file in the civiCRM module root with my 'sites' root directory which I've assumed to be

/home/username/public_html/sites/members.xxx.com/

Whas up? Can anyone help?

Just as a note: I think the wiki is very difficult to follow, expecially if the installer doesn't work for you. There doesn't seem to be any clear way to fallback to a manual process?

I would first get drupal multisite (members.xxx.com) working (without civicrm) and then try to install civicrm on it.

I'm suspicious here. IMO the link should point to drupal directory.

I'm also assuming that civicrm codebase is placed under sites/all/modules and not under sites/members.xxx.com/modules, considering the install url you using.

Which means either your drupal multisite (members.xxx.com / xxx.com) is failing OR civicrm is not placed at right place.

There are also other posts on multi-site installs, that might give you more clues.

I followed instructions for setting Drupal multisite using cpanel which worked fine to resolve at: members.xxx.com

I removed the symlink recommended by the Drupal instructions and members.xxx.com stopped resolving

Yes: sites/all/modules/civicrm/

Member site is under /sites/members.xxx.com/

Yes, that's correct...'page not found' but civicrm and members seem to be in the correct location.
