manual setup of triggers for new logging function?
November 07, 2010, 09:43:28 am
Is it possible to manually setup and enable the new logging features? The hosting provider we are trying to set this up on claims that we can use triggers only through phpMyAdmin, and I can not locate the script that would set this up so that I can try to create them on my own. So if this is possible, can anyone point me towards the code needed to make it happen?
I really want to play around with it, as it is a feature request for a client we just picked up and I was expecting to have to write something of my own. So I would be happy to help bug hunt if someone can help me get it enabled...

no, not possible to do this manually

You can check the code at CRM/Logging/*.php to get an idea of whats involved

However i would not do so :)

Note that the trigger privileges is associated with a mysql user and not PHPMyAdmin. so might want to talk to your host a bit more

ok thanks. one more question though... if triggers are enabled and working, where would the option be to enable the new logging feature? I've been trying to play with it on a different host that I know has triggers enabled for all users, but I still can not find where I would turn it on or manage it at.

Ok sorry I should have mentioned im running the Joomla version. But that still told me where to look, thanks lobo. However now that I found where to enable Logging, after enabling it and saving, it gives me a DB error. All it says is syntax error for the explanation. Is this a bug or is this something else? This servers running mysql 5.1.39, and triggers are enabled. Hosting provider is Dreamhost if thats relevant in anyway.
