problem with creating new group for civimail
November 26, 2007, 12:06:48 am
Hi,

After the upgrade to 1.9 from 1.8, when I try to create a new group, there is no Mailing List checkbox, or any checkbox for that matter, in the Group Type field.  This is a problem because when I try to send out a mail with civimail, the Mailing Recipients fields are completely blank.  Please Advise.

Thanks.

1. Are you sure you overwrote your 1.8 installation with the 1.9 tarball contents (i.e., upgraded the CiviCRM files)?

2. Are you sure you deleted the Smarty template cache contents?

1. Yes

2. Yes, I believe so.  I followed the steps and added "sessionReset=2&directoryCleanup=1" at the end of the URL string.

can you ensure that you have the debug flag on in administer civicrm >> global settings >> debugging

the two url options only work when debugging is turned on

Yes, I made sure that I enabled debugging.

I just noticed that the CiviCRM OG Sync module was added due to the upgrade.  Do I need to enable this and configure it correctly to fix the problem I am having? Or is it irrelevant?

You most probably either didn’t upgrade your database or something broke with the upgrade.

Can you check whether your civicrm_option_value table contains the proper entry?

Code: [Select]
SELECT * FROM civicrm_option_value WHERE label = 'Mailing List';

Yes, it contains both "Mailing List" and "Access Control".  Here is the link to what I am looking at: http://pluto.dev0.t324.com/civimail.jpg

So I think I figured it out.  I noticed that the group_type entry in civicrm_option_group had a different value for the domain_id as the rest of the entries.  I changed it to match the other entries and now I am able to see the checkboxes and fields that were missing from before.  Thanks for all your help! Hopefully I won't encounter anymore problems.

Hm, that’s interesting. The upgrade script should set @domain_id to the proper value. Do you have many domain_ids in civicrm_domain?

If so, what values, which one was the proper one and which was got (wrongly) used by the upgrade script?

Yes, there seems to be 172 (which was also the same value I changed for group_type) domain_ids in civicrm_domain. The value 1 is the correct one with all the correct info.  All the other values have a bunch of NULLs and FIXMEs.
