drag and drop dashlet does not work
November 09, 2010, 12:07:29 pm
Hi,
I just installed for the first time CiviCRM. On my CiviCRM home page, I'm trying to configure my dashboard. The problem is that the drag&drop function does not work. When I click on Activities for example, the pointer transforms to the "hand pointer" but I cannot drag it.

I tried the drag and drop capability in Drupal and it seems to work. Bizarre.

Can someone help me?

Can you check your javascript console for errors. Also can you attach screenshots.

Hi Kurund,
Thank you for your answer. I don't know if it's the good thing to do but I looked at the error console in FF and there is no errors inside (nothing happens when I click on Java Console).
I attach a screenshot which shows the result of selecting a dashlet (Activities) and trying to drop it in the left column. You can see that Activities is not "selectable", instead drag and drop it results in a mere selection of the line (like for a simple text).
Let me know if you want some more information.
cheers,
Patrick

If you are using firefox, install firebug addon and then check console for errors. It looks like your javascript is broken on Configure page, hence you are not able to drag and drop.

The problem is that I cannot install the Java console add-on because it's no longer supported:
"The Java Console extension is no longer supported and will be automatically removed the next time you restart Firefox.  This will not affect any Java applications or websites in any way."

Re: drag and drop dashlet does not work - problem with jquery?
November 11, 2010, 06:26:07 am
Ok it's done.
When I click now on "Configure your Dashboard", I can see in the firebug console the following (see attached file).
Problem with jquery?

Looks like there is some problem with loading jquery ui. Are you using any other drupal module that uses jquery ui? Can you also check if it works fine in default garland theme

Yes, I have the module Skinr that needs JQuery UI (http://fusiondrupalthemes.com/support/theme-developers/future-roadmap/installing-skinr-2x).
I also checked with the garland theme but it does not work.
Maybe I could try to uninstall the Skinr and related modules but it would be a lot of work. If you think it could be useful let me know.
By the way, is it possible that the jquery problem is also causing something I noticed when I did some tests with CiviCRM, specifically:
when I do a search on a contact, the result is displaying good (top of the attached file) but when I click on the membership tab, the display is minimalist (no template is used - bottom of the attached file).
Are the two problems related?

cheers,
Patrick

Hi,
Just an update on my problem. I did a fresh installation of CiviCRM on a new domain without Skinr. Everything works well now. I'll try to install Skinr soon to see if the installation in this order causes problems again.
Thank you.
Patrick
