500 Internal Server Error When Searching a Group in Advanced Search
November 09, 2010, 02:26:16 pm
We've been getting a 500 internal server error when we try to access the contacts of one of the groups we created (Let's call it Group B). The problem happens after going to Advanced Search, checking the box for that group, and hitting search. It will hang for a while and then return the error message (which is below).

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@crm.oregonrural.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Our host tried increasing the PHP limits, thinking it was taking the code longer to render the query, but that hasn't worked. He also checked the logs and found the following, which he thought might indicate an issue with the script?:

[Tue Nov 02 14:35:36 2010] [error] [client 216.246.6.167] Premature end of script headers: index2.php, referer: http://crm.oregonrural.org/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contact/search/advanced&
[Tue Nov 02 14:35:36 2010] [error] [client 216.246.6.167] File does not exist: /home/oregonru/public_html/500.shtml, referer: http://crm.oregonrural.org/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contact/search/advanced&

Any insight you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Shaun

What's your CiviCRM version? If you are on 2.x please consider upgrading to latest stable release. It's hard for us to support old versions.

We're still on 2.2.7. The last time we tried upgrading we had a ton of glitches that made things unusable, so we reverted and haven't tried upgrading again. I'll ask our host to try an upgrade this weekend and we'll see what happens...

Thanks.
