(Q)Contributing to multiple projects in a single transaction?
November 26, 2007, 07:46:13 pm
I don't see a way to do it, but wanted to make sure that I didn't miss anything.

What I'm looking to do is a little bit like the price sets in CiviEvent, but for contributions. I am planning on making CiviContribute entries for each of our major projects. But  in addition what I would like to do is create a list of Highlighted projects to contribute to. Now I know that I can create a page with entries for each project with a link to each individual contribution page, but what I'd really like to do is have a kind of super contribution page where I can select multiple projects from a list and give each of these selected projects an amount to be received. These would then be totaled up and then processed in a single credit-card transaction. I would of course like the standard background processing such as earmarking the correct amounts to each selected projects to still happen.

While allowing the standard list of predefined amounts(with the users selecting for each) would be great. In the hope of simplifying the process(and keeping the page short), making each donation a user specified amount would be fine.

If I somehow missed this please let me know where to look. If it doesn't already exist, I'll consider this a wish for the future. ;)

This is not possible with CiviContribute today and is not on our current short/medium term roadmap

In general, we need the community to step up and implement some of their wishes, specially ones that seem a bit specialized to their orgs :)

OK, not a problem. It's definitely not a priority, but a daydream of the client.  :)  CiviCRM is already giving them things that they only dreamed about so they thought they'd ask.

And I learned long ago that when packages get big enough there are often features that weren't always obvious, so I thought I'd check. I've been learning a lot about what CiviCRM can do, but know I still have further to go.

BTW, thanks for the great package and fast answering of questions. Even if the answer is no. I've dealt with to many proprietary software houses where they always try and make it sound like they said yes even when the real answer is no. This is much better to work with.  ;D
