Front End Display in Joomla
November 27, 2007, 01:09:28 pm
I am trying to tweak the front end for CiviContribute pages, CiviEvent registration pages etc... in a Joomla site, and I haven't been able to find a solution to disable the display [entirely] of the left sidebar on the front end.

I've scoured the documentation and forums, and this seemingly simple problem still eludes me.

Any suggestions, or is this not possible in Joomla ?

Thx, Ian

You will need to do a code change for this. You can change the code at:

CRM/Core/Invoke.php

line 74, you can make that conditional on the frontend ($config->userFrameworkFrontend)

I'm kinda surprised that this has not come up before. We should not display the sidebar for the frontend by default. Can you please file an issue for 2.0

thanx

Thanks Lobo. Worked like a charm. That was exactly the quick and easy fix I needed!

Thus far, there seems to be no problems...I will post any if they come up, but seems like it s/b fine.

Well...this is not really a big deal for me, because the front end works, but....the sidebar also disappeared in the backend. There's probably a way to get it back, but it is not vital for me since you can still get what you need in the backend through "Administer CiviCRM"

Also minor, but should be noted: The page title displays as "CiviContribute" or "CiviEvent" instead of the normal Joomla behavior which would display the title of the menu item created. Again, only a minor issue and it will not delay my pages going live.

What version of CiviCRM are you using? I just took a quick look at a sample online contribution page on our 1.9 Joomla demo and the CiviCRM sidebar (e.g. CiviCRM menu, shortcuts, etc.) does not get displayed:

http://demo.civicrm.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_civicrm&Itemid=28

Using 1.9.11960 with Joomla 1.0.13

I originally saw the demo with no sidebar which also left me perplexed.

I'm also having session problems..."Could not find valid key" and tried any and ALL solutions suggested in this forum with no luck. These problems may not be related, and I can post elsewhere if necessary....but I'm basically at a dead end.

My test page is here: http://www.ushf.org/2008/index.php?option=com_civicrm&Itemid=123

Sure, what time zone are you in ?

I'm busy M-W except for very early and late in the work day...flexible TH & FR. I'm in mountain time zone (Denver).

I was curious to know if the issue is resolved because I have exactly the same problem in the Joomla front end.
Is it a simple way to disable  the left sidebar on the front end?

Thanks
