Does PayPal Pro on PHP 5.2.4?

Can someone confirm if PayPal Pro works on PHP 5.2.4 or not.  The instructions to setting up PayPal Pro mentions that it does not work on PHP 5.2.3, but does that mean it would not work on 5.2.4 as well?

I think i checked when 5.2.4 came out and it did not work. I suspect paypal is not too keen on fixing this

Apparently PayPal 5.2.5 does not work either.  Are we absolutely sure that this is a PayPal bug?   Unfortunately, we cannot downgrade.

paypal claims it works. here is a quote:

I'm currently running PHP V. 5.2.5 and I have implemented all the NVP and soup examples in our page with no problems. I can confirm that the information on that page is only a rumor.

paypal support did not respond to 3 of our forum posts when we first posted the issue there. some other person also posted a similar issue.

in 2.0 we have switched to NVP api since thats easier and seems the new way of doing things.

We do not have the time/resources to try to debug this in 1.9. If you are willing to spend time on it, that would be great
