Contacts being overwritten by participants
November 17, 2010, 05:01:57 pm
i have an event and it is set up to allow registrations from the same email address but it seems that if someone is logged in and they register one person (ie. themselves) and then they register someone else (still logged in) it seems the information they input into the profile form for the new person overwrites the contact details of the original person.
is this normal?
im using civicrm 3.1.5. can upgrade because i have some custom_php that won't be compatible with the newer versions...

Well, they don't register a second person, they are always modifying their own records.

As of 3.2, it displays the name of the logged in user+an option to register someone else that would have solved your problem

is there a way in 3.1.5 to have the field "view only" when logged in, then if they are not logged in they can enter their name?

No, but that's a nice idea.

Do you think you could contribute in code or money to make it happen?

haha! my coding skills are rubbish. i wish i could contribute code to this community as it is so helpful and civicrm is such a powerful tool for our organisation. however we definitely don't have the ability to come up with any funds either as we are a very small non-profit organisation. we've already forked out quite a bit to get some other customisations which we didn't really need in the first place because those features came out a couple of months later in version 3.2!

perhaps someone would like to "donate" the code???
