All recipients of mailing are getting marked as "on hold"

After sending a recent mass mailing, 100% of the recipients were marked as "on hold".  From looking at the CiviMail report for the mailing, it shows that 100% of the messages were bounced.     These same recipients have successfully mass- mailed in the past.

Looking at the details of the report, each recipient has "bounce type" = "invalid"   and "bounce reason" = "Unknown bounce type: Could not parse bounce email"

What should I look at to investigate this issue?

I am using CiviCRM 3.2.3 under Drupal 6.x

Hi,

What outbound are you using ?

Might want to switch to mail() tend to be much more permissive than smtp.

Been similar issues in the past. Think Piotr was going to modify the system so if it's unknown, it doesn't go on hold directly.

I was using "sendmail".  I have just switched it to "mail"

If the mailer error is "unknown" will the email address be marked as "on hold" no matter which outbound email setting is used?

and mail() is a wrapper around sendmail. Doubt that's going to improve for you.

Can you get the log mail.info? might find more info about what's going on.

Where is that file typically located?  This environment is on a shared hosting account.
