3.1.5 to 3.2.5 (Database check failed)
November 22, 2010, 02:29:20 am
Hi guys... Getting this error while trying to perform the upgrade from 3.1.5 to 3.2.5.  Any recommendations? All forum searches seem to be for different versions, so I figured I'd throw it out there in case something changed and I can save my org the cost of hiring another guy.

Database check failed - the database looks to have been partially upgraded.

If you go through these forums you'll find this is a recurring problem. The stock answer is that you must have tried to upgrade before and should roll back by restoring your backup.

Assuming you have no knowledge of attempting an upgrade previously, or that you have been live since trying to upgrade, then you will probably find the following database tables are present and unused:

civicrm_entity_financial_trx
civicrm_financial_account
civicrm_website
civicrm_address_format

You should be able to verify this by looking at the detail of the error message (you may need to turn debugging on whilst your site is off-line)

Drop these tables and try again.

As always make very sure you have backup before you start!
