Online Memberships and Receipt not sent is NULL when Automated Receipt is ON

Hi - what is the expected outcome - Online Membership - Automatic Receipt. Should the related Contribution therefore be marked with Receipt Sent, or not?

Seems like it is 'not' - and a Find Contributions for 'Contribution Receipt date is null' returns Online Memberships that have had a receipt sent automatically.
