How to change the from the email on a receipt email
November 23, 2010, 02:21:58 pm
The note on the "From Email Address Options" page says:

By default, CiviCRM uses the primary email address of the logged in user as the FROM address when sending emails to contacts. However, you can use this page to define one or more general Email Addresses that can be selected as an alternative

But when sending a receipt email on a pledge or contribution, there isn't an option to change the FROM address.

We have a situation where multiple people are entering pledges and contributions and all the receipt emails are being sent from their account email.  Am I missing something? or is this not possible?

Thanks

You can configure from address via UI, for eg for contribution page: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/contribute?reset=1&action=update&id=1&subPage=ThankYou

Thanks for responding Kurund.  I see where in many situations the from email address can be changed like in the example you gave.  However, I don't see where I can change the FROM email for the receipt email for a back end contribution (or pledge) page.

The business situation is:  People send in contributions (checks) to this organization.  These checks are divided between several people who enter these contributions  through the back end. When the receipt email is sent, the from address is the email address of the person logged in. The organization would like all the receipt emails to be from one generic email address and I don't see  how this can be done. There are work arounds like having all the accounting people use the same account or having each person use the same generic email address as their primary address, but we would prefer not to do this.

Thanks

Hey paul:

we should find and fix those places where an email is sent, but we dont give folks the option of choosing the from address. Do u wanna file an issue with all the places this happen. we'll scope out how much work is involved in doing so, and if trivial we'll do for 3.3 (else 3.4). I dont think this is a big project
