Email links different in iPhone v desktop
November 25, 2010, 03:56:44 pm
Hi, just sent out a mailing to a small group of users(1000) in civimail, and all spears to be well, except the links in the email when viewed from an iPhone.
In the 'normal' email scenario, links work as expected.
However, when clicking some of the links (not all) from the email within an iPhone (3GS), a completely different output is generated.

Eg x-apple-msg-load://D2FCA467-75F1-49F9-8436-4E8D72717478/event/info?reset=1&id=3

Any thoughts as to why some but not others?

Upon further investigation
The answer is in the links. Those that work well are fully qualified.
The ones with the problem have somehow been converted to relative links
Eg a href="../../../printmail/book/export/html/5">

So the problem is not with civimail, but how some if the links are being re-interpreted, I'm guessing, by the HTML editor.

It serves as a warning to check your links (all of them) before sending the mass email

This may need to be moved to a more appropriateboard.
However any insight as to a solution /fix would be great.
Oh yes, using tinyMCE as my HTML editor in message templates.
