PDF letters are cut off

Is there a size limit to the text in message templates? The letter I am trying to make is always cut off when sending to PDF.

maybe related to issue here http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,16462.0.html - though i can't see that we got to the conclusion about it partly being failure to set margins in the pdf - and yes i was able to replicate the issues i flagged on Demo
