Strange Participant Search results
November 30, 2010, 02:47:27 pm
I have come across a weird bug when using Participant Search, I am trying to narrow down what exactly is the cause, without success. If anyone has suggestions on what to look into, please post.

Here is the issue, actual results of my search:
I go to Search > Advanced Search, scroll down to Events, and select an Event (eg 'Hammerstein Event'). It returns 280 people, which is accurate. If however I go to Events > Find Participants and select the same event, it says '1480 Results'! It does not actually display 1480 records, it only displays 280, but the results tally is way off!

Further complicating things: This only happens to a user who does not have ACL permissions on the entire db. We keep all event attendees in one group, called Social Events. Our event staff which have ACL to only this group (and therefore to all event attendees) are the ones getting the mistaken '1480 Results' tally. The staff with db-wide acl permissions get the correct 280 tally.

This is happening with all events.

I can update from 3.2.2. to 3.2.5 but I haven't seen this reported on the forums, so I doubt it was corrected.

Anyone have any clues what precisely is setting off this bug? It is difficult to pinpoint.

Thanks!!

definitely a bug in the acl/permissioning code :(

any chance we can either get ssh access to the machine. might be easier and faster to debug there. if so, ping me on IRC. Please ensure u have all the details here:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC32/SSH+Access+Requirements

if not possible, can we get a db dump so we can check

thanx
