1. download the l10n package from sourceforge.net

2. untar the file at: administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/

3. you should see a file called l10n created in that directory which will have the de translation

ok thank it works fine :D !

I have one other question:

Wenn the localization is on de_DE all is fine but the ä,ü,ö are here ä, ü etc.

Can you say where I can adjust this error or what it is?

It’s because you’re running Joomla 1.0 with ISO-8859-1 encoding, while CiviCRM uses UTF-8 and requires that you switch your Joomla to that encoding if you want to use non-Latin characters.

Search this forum and/or google for Joomla UTF-8 if you want to switch your install to UTF-8 (Joomla 1.5 uses UTF-8 by default and your site will be switched to it on upgrade anyway).
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.
