No footer in receipts online and offline

The receipts go out fine, but there are no footers in them.

When I try to add a footer with the Opt Out link, an error is thrown and receipt will not go out.

You can make appropriate changes for the offline /online membership receipts under System Workflow Messages in Administer → Configure → Message Templates here
You might wanna look for and make changes accordingly in Memberships - Receipt (on-line) and Memberships - Signup and Renewal Receipts (off-line)

I'm sorry, you did not get the point. I tried changing them at that location and it causes a system error if you put the optout token in it.
