Imported contributions don't create contribution activities

I just completed my first import of offline contribution into CiviCRM. Exciting!

Only, these contacts do not have corresponding activity records of the contributions. Does this not happen when the contributions are imported rather than made through an online contribution page?

yes, importing contributions does not create an activity record
