cicvicrm 1.9 / joomla 1.5 php issue?
December 02, 2007, 07:17:48 am
Hi there

I have joomla 1.5 and am trying to install civi1.9.  I have legacy on.  when I try to install from local folder on site I get a blank white screen.  Hostgater who are the host run php4 with a line that I add to the htaccess file AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php which kicks it up to php5. (Although cpanel says it is php4)  Could this be why I get the blank white screen when I try to install civicrm from folder on site?  If not, any ideas why I cannot finish install?

Thanks

Jeremy

You might want to create a basic page with a phpinfo() call in it to verify exactly what release of php you are running since CiviCRM 1.9 requires php5.  CiviCRM 1.8 was the last to have both a php4 and php5 version

phpinfo gives me 5.  I still cannot get civicrm to run on 1.5.  Wish I could :-\, any other ideas?

I run CiviCRM with Drupal so I don't have any recent Joomla experience to work with. My next best guess would be to make sure that CiviCRM is getting the large amount of memory it needs to run.

While I believe that CiviCRM will try and raise the amount of memory allocated if it's not enough, not all hosts allow this to be done.

Make sure your php.ini file has max_execution_time = 600.

My installation kept hanging where yours is (bear in mind though, that I am running PHP 5.x).

Make sure to delete the com_civicrm folders from components and administrator/components in your joomla folder, then edit the php.ini.

Re-install with legacgy on, and it should work, it did for me.

Good luck!
