a few problems with the joomla update
December 10, 2010, 09:31:42 am
Ok so now I see the Joomla auto update. I thought it was all working well.. but then some major issues happened:
1- when I try to add new contact [individual or org or household] it gives me
Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
Your install is missing required "Shared Address" profile.

2- Also when I try to delete a contact or a few contacts, it gives me non-recoverable error also.
Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
DB Error: no such field

Any ideas what to do?
Thanks

Can you see any more details about which field is missing?  That kind of error makes me think that maybe you didn't apply all database schema changes properly, i.e. you didn't fully upgrade...

Thanks but actually it was an auto upgrade. I just installed the civic rm 3.3.0. It upgrades and  then tells me to run the db upgrade utility. This is when I get a nonrecoverable error.

What do you think?

it was an auto upgrade
shouldn't make any difference.
the auto upgrade runs some scripts and from the looks of things, it didn't complete properly.

yup.. so the question is why did it not complete properly? what would cause it not to complete properly when it gave me update successful?

One relatively painful way of answering this is doing what i did to my Joomla DB in this forum post:
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,16895.msg72390.html#msg72390

If you don't fancy that, my advice would be to get on IRC and ask for help there.

Strange that Joomla is not reporting an error.  Are you sure that your DB is downgraded before attempting the upgrade?  What is your reported version number (before upgrade) in the civicrm_domain table?

What did it say?  Upgrade successful or already upgraded? If it somehow has bee set to the upgraded version number (even though the db hasn't been properly upgraded that might explain why the db is saying that it is already upgraded.

But don't take my word for it - you want to be really confident that the upgrade has completed successfully before letting people loose on it!

Good luck :)
