CiviCase Activities not appearing in Contact Activity tabs?

Hi,

I've just been testing CiviCase's suitability on the drupal 3.3 demo site prior to braving the hairy configuration process. It seems great, particularly now it's possible to set up cases with an organisations as well as contacts. One thing seems wrong though.

Say I create a case with Contact A. During the case, we make contact with Contact B - let's say a 3rd party consultant. So, we add a case activity and change the 'With contact' from the client (Contact A) to Contact B.

It works fine - but nothing appears on Contact B's 'Activities' summary page (or 'Cases', and I imagine this also means nothing would show for an Activities API call either - can't test this on demo). Someone casually checking Contact B's contact summary page would be see nothing at all, and would be given the false impression that there's no recent contact with Contact B when actually we're in contact and working with him/her right now.

Is this by accident or design? Do I need to manually set up a formal Case Role for everyone ever contacted for anything to do with a case before anything appears in their contact record? This would make it quite a pain to use CiviCase for any types of case that are varied and unpredictable.

(extra question for developers: I imagine that somewhere, probably in the Activities BAO, there's a filter that removes Case activities from regular Activity retrieval. Any helpful pointers on the What, Where and Why of this? Is this simply a simple filter, intended purely to stop Activities panels from being flooded with many activities relating to the same case, or is there more to it than this?)
