Updates not reflecting straight away

Hi guys, Im a newbie to CiviCrm so excuse my silly question. We are using it at a Church for donations and pledges. Everytime a payment is recorded it does not update straight away and indicate the payment has been made. To see the changes reflected users have to logout and log back in. We are using version 3.1.5..

Any help would be appreciated?
