CiviSMTP and redelivery attempts

Last week Email to one of our newsletter subscribers bounced (ended up in Bounces: invalid - user unknown). When we inquired with the subscriber to see if perhaps her Email address had changed, she said she actually did receive it. The Email that arrived in her mailbox was addressed "To hername@sh.uas.coop; hername". I've searched our db and there is no-one else with an Email address that is identical or even LIKE hers.

So how does CiviSMTP handle re-delivery attempts? Or am I missing something and is there another explanation? Redelivery itself is of course great, but the problem is that the Email address remains marked as bounced (so red flagged / on Hold) - even though the re-delivery attempt was successful. So she'll be excluded from future Newsletters until we go in and remove the Hold.

Hi,

we do not attempt any redeliveries for bounced addresses. 

the problem you are seeing is probably related to something in your civicrm installation.  are you seeing this with any other addresses?

Hi Shane,

Thanks. No we've not seen this yet - and we've been sending thousands of messages over the past couple of months. Your CiviSMTP service is working great. Our administrators always check the Bounces and follow up with Contacts - and there is always a typo or someone has switched providers. This is the first time we're seeing a Bounced (yet delivered). I'm going to try sending her another message via CiviMail/CiviSMTP. See what happens.

A subsequent Holiday Donations mailing was delivered to this Email address just fine yesterday. We'll file it under: "not sure what happened - but all is well at the moment". Thanks for thinking about this and please don't forget to send us an invoice this month. I think we'll be well over >3k :-)
