Is it possible to force editing through a profile?
December 04, 2007, 06:24:39 pm
Hi,

So far, I was able to customize all the profiles I wanted for data entry and it's working well. Since I administrate CiviCRM in an organization with a lot of different access levels to information, for the data entry and search, most of the times, I use the profiles.

To have a complete workflow,I was now wondering if it's possible to force editing with a profile view.

Ex: A user accesses a profile search form. A search is performed using the profile fields and the search results are displayed. For each row, there is a "View" button, and when it's clicked, it displays the contact information using the profile view.  Is there a way to also have an "Edit" button that would let a user edit the contact information using the profile view?

In the Settings form for each Profile - under "Advanced Settings" - check "Include profile edit links in search results?". This will result in an Edit link for each search result row - IF the user as permission to edit that contact.
