Remove Events from Activities Tab when completed?

Is there a way to have Events not who up on the Activities tab once they are completed or past.  I notice that it put an event down as a registration activity and then again once the status changes to something else. In my case, completed.  Since this is already on the Events tab is there anyway to configure or set it up so it does not show up on the Activities tab as well?

The rationale behind event participation showing up as an activity is that many folks use the Activities pane as a way to view all the interactions between a constituent and the organization in sequence (e.g. Jane received an eNewsletter on Dec 2, she registered for xyz event on Dec 5, gave a contribution on Dec 9 and came to a volunteer training meeting on Dec 15).

There's no way via admin configuration to change this behavior. I think you could do it via page run hook if you have some php expertise.

Thank you Dave. I will get one of my php guys to look at this.  It is just with each constituent in our system participating in hundreds of events each month (because we are using this for training and other things) it creates alot of records to go through.
