Manual lat/long in google maps
December 19, 2010, 07:17:54 pm
I would like to use the Google maps feature in CiviEvent, but I do not want it to try and get the location based on address.  The events I want to create do not have street addresses but do, of course, have lat/long coordinates. So I would like google maps to use the lat/long coordinates that are entered manually.

Thanks,
Martin

Martin,

Make sure you have saved the mapping provider information at <yoursite>/civicrm/admin/setting/mapping?reset=1 and then In 'Info and Settings' of  event configuration , enable the 'Include Map to Event Location?' , that's it, given the coordinate information in Event location, you can see the map on event info.

HTH,
Rahul.

Thanks for the reply.  The URL <mysite>/civicrm/admin/setting/mapping?reset=1 gives me 404 error.
Is this a Joomla URL?

The page I have set up is
http://accvi.ca/bubba/index.php?option=com_civicrm&view=Events&layout=eventlisting&html=1&page=1&Itemid=63
If you click on the Mt Whymper link it shows a location in Google maps, unfortunately it is the wrong Mt Whymper.
I can go to Manage Events and change the lat/long but it reverts after I save the page.
How can I disable the automatic population of this field?

- NO. its for Drupal.  For joomla it may be
<mysite>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/mapping&reset=1
