Renewing Membership doesn't update start date

I have users who renew their membership but the start date doesn't get updated appropriately. This means they don't appear in our lists of those who have renewed their membership recently (i.e. the dashboard) and they are harder to find when we run a record search by a certain start date.

Is there a reason why the start date wouldn't reset upon a new contribution.

Our membership type is set to 1 year duration (rolling).

IMO we do update start date only when user renew expired membership.

You might want to take a close look for : Test Plan for Membership Renewals

hope this will give you more insight on various dates update on membership renew.
