When donors make contributions on-line, if I search for those contributions I see them.

If a donor makes a contribution by check, and then I as admin add a corresponding contribution, defining the source as the on-line page, the contribution does not display if I search for contributions made through the page.

For example, if the contribution page is named "My donor page"

1. I Manage contributions > My donor page > Contributions > Year to date [or Cumulative]
2. I see all contributions made on line

3. Now I add a contribution for John Doe, stating that the Source is 'Online Contribution: My donor page'
4. I repeat 1-2 and John Doe's contribution doesn't show up

This also has the effect that donations by check don't show up on the Preview wizard. How do I make that happen?

Assuming this is correct, can you let me know of any workarounds?

I tried entering the donation on behalf of John Doe, who is already a participant known to the system. The effect is to change my record in the system to include the details I entered for John.

or just use a logged out browser and enter the contribution as if you were that person via the Contribution Page?
