2.0 with Drupal
December 07, 2007, 06:31:56 am
Similarly to this post http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,1602.0.html, I noticed that the 2.0 wiki says it will only be compatible with Drupal 5. Meaning, NO ability to run it on Drupal 4.7????? There are so many 4.7 sites still out there, and many of my clients are on them, so I am freaking out to say the least. Is this true?!

Emily:

We will not remove the code the supports Drupal 4.7 codebase. However we will not test / support this combination proactively. Any bug fixes/patches will need to be driven/contributed by the community

Thanks for this information. Can you tell me how many more releases D5 will be fully supported? Or will that be gone once D6 comes out? Thanks!

I dont think we have a formal policy on CMS release support. We are starting to move towards only supporting the latest release of the respective CMS (drupal/joomla). This reduces the support/QA load a fair amount

So once D6 reaches final, the next version of CiviCRM will support D6. Backward compatibility with D5 will depend on the changes in the interfaces we use with drupal.
