Why is the "email address" field required, and how do I disable that?

Hi All,

We'd like to require the "email address" field only for the first registrant--so we can include it as a required field in the profile that is displayed for the first registrant.

But even though we don't have email address as a required field for subsequent registrants, it's showing up (and it's required) on subsequent registrants.  How do I fix that?

Isn't there a setting on Events to let you register Multiple people for an event using the 'same' email?

There is a setting on the "Online Registration" page: "Allow multiple registrations from the same email address?"

I have the corresponding checkbox checked.

Is there another similar setting somewhere else?

Ok, I found this help tip when I clicked on the help icon for "Allow multiple registrations from the same email address?"

If you want additional participants to be registered without requiring an email address to be entered for each person - check the "Register multiple participants" option, AND include a profile in this registration form which includes First Name and Last Name fields.

The custom profile I had setup did not include the Individual->First Name and Individual->Last Name fields.  I altered my custom profile so that it had those fields and they were required.

Once I did that, the email address field was no longer required--but it was still present.  I would like to get rid of it.  How can I get rid of it?
