I need to set special content access privs for people with given roles, so being able to stick expired users in an "inactive" role would be a good thing, as I could guarantee that they would not accidentally get access to parts of the site they're not paying for.

Option 1: When the user is expired, they automatically get memberSync'd to "inactive".

THE PROBLEM IS that if there is a drupal user and the civiMember isn't connecting with it for some reason (which happened last night with a user), then the user doesn't get synced, and they end up just having no role, except for "authenticated" of course.

Option 2: Just let them have no role, and give all the "inactive" role's permissions to the "authenticated" role.

Since the no-role problem is the biggest downside to option one, Please give me some feedback in addition to your vote. Thanks!
