Search on exact match on first and last name

When I use the "Search --> Find Contacts" page and specify just someone's first and last name, such as "John Doe" 

I get everyone all the Johns, all the Does, all the Johnsons, etc.

What I would like is to ONLY get the people with that exact first name and that exact last name.   How can I adjust this search setting? I would also like the same behavior for the contact auto-complete.

Search for: Smith, John    (just as you see it there)

Searching: John Smith, won't get you the results you want.  Long story as to why, but I *think* techncially it's just the way CiviCRM's search is built.
