Account information under the View tab
December 23, 2010, 10:16:07 am
Forgive the noob-ness of this post but I have been stuck on a problem for some time and was hoping to get some help, pointed in the right direction, or told it can't be done.

I've 'inherited' a Drupal(6.19) + CiviCRM (3.2.4) site. Drupal alone is a bit of a learning curve. The combo with Civic has had me pouring over tons of documentation. The good news I am slowly but surely making the site do what I want but there is an issue I haven't been able to resolve despite multiple attempts.

When I click on My Account, if I click on the View tab (selected by default) I get a listing of all fields in two custom profiles ('Name and Address' and 'Driving School Info') I've created in Civic. That's what I want. But I also want all the fields listed under 'Account' (i.e. 'Account information' 'Signature settings' 'Picture' 'Contact settings' 'Locale settings' 'Terms of use') to appear under View as well. Instead I must click on the Edit tab.

I've found other posts touching on a similar issue but they didn't really cover my situation. Under View I want to see all related information (Civic + Drupal). Am I trying to make Civi-Drupal so something it can't? Or is there a way to accomplish this?

Would I be reaching for the stars if I additionally asked is there way to click on Edit and open a page where I can edit all fields of both custom profiles plus the Account related fields?

Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

Rob

This is a good question and I appreciate the detail which you have described your situation.

The "view tab" is a Drupal page which draws information from a variety of sources.  CiviCRM is one of those sources.  To have more information appear on the "view tab", you must create a custom .tpl (that's a template) for your Drupal theme and customize the look of your view tab.

So the short answer is look to Drupal to do what you want.

The long answer is: research Drupal custom theming, specifically the user profile pages, and the Devel module for Drupal will help you to see what data is available to customize on that page.

Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.

So a theme not only determines how a page looks but can also determines what content may appear as well?

That information is very helpful. Thanks.
