Proximity Search Not Working on Imported Records
December 23, 2010, 02:54:03 pm
I have imported a large number of records into Civicrm. Upon import we did not have it do the geo mapping as it was recommended we not do this.  When I try to use the proximity search, only items that were hand entered into the system are returned.  If I go into a record of an imported contact and do nothing more than just save the record and exit, then this record will show.

Is there an indexing that I missed or is this something to do with the gmap feature?  How can I correct this without going inot 16,000 records manually.

You'll need to run bin/UpdateAddress.php and batch geocode the other locations.

We have followed the instructions in this post however, now we receive no results on the proximity search where before we were receiving the names of those that had been manually entered.  Before I could go into a record that had been imported and re-save the record and they would then show up. I tried this after running the script and it no longer works.  Thoughts?

sorry, no idea what is happening on your site and why. You might want to consider asking someone familiar with php/mysql to investigate and figure out whats happening and why

Please report back the solution when u have figured it out

thanx

I was able to speak with the DB who ran this for us and the script actually appeared to work that evening when ran but the next morning when users began to run it we received the error. He reran the script and everything is working properly. We are not sure what caused the issue except that there were several chron jobs that ran that night so maybe that had something to do with it but for now we are happy and consider it resolved. Thanks for always being so great to respond. This is an awesome community to be a part of.
