"Date added" search does not capture recently imported contacts

I've imported several hundred new contacts from CSV files in the last two weeks.  Contacts appear to have been successfully added - I can search for specific names and retrieve them.

However, when I use the "Date added to CiviCRM" custom search option, and choose a "date added" range that should include these new contact records, none of the contacts are retrieved.

The "change log" does incude an entry for the date the contact was added (e.g. change log entry for 2010Dec18, the date I added the contacts).

I should note also that there are several tables in the backend with the prefix civicrm_import_job and a long ID number.  However I have confirmed that the contacts in those import_job tables are also in the civicrm_contacts table (confirmed by searching backend using phpAdmin).

Can anyone explain why my new contacts records aren't showing up in the "Date Added" search?

New to CiviCRM so please bear with me.  Thanks!!!

If i had to guess it might be a bug in the change log custom search

would be great if you can check the queries generated and figure out whats happening and why
