Custom Data Field of Type File used on profile to display listings on Joomla
January 05, 2011, 07:49:47 am
Using CiviCRM 3.3.1 - I have been able to create a custom profile to display on the front end of out Joomla site.
Using that profile with custom data fields displays as expected.

I went back into the Custom Data fields to create a custom data filed of type file for that set, then added the filed to the profile being used and was able to upload a file.

The test file I was able to upload from the contact custom data TAB is called readme.txt.

When viewing the record on the front end the file is displayed as readme_e63aeaf6dcdb69f0dd1b0e22a3ba5e9d.txt

How do I stop CiviCRM from adding all that other text in the file name?

This field/file will be used by vistors to download PDF files when the site goes live and we just want it to be the original file name of the file uploaded on the backend.

Front end users will not be uploading files in this profile (That's a matter of a future topic).

Thanks!

D

1. we rename the file to avoid:

* someone uploading a file with the same name
* users trying to guess and download files that they dont have access to (there are permissions that control this also, BUT this is another precaution)

I thought we had fixed it so we display the name as "readme.txt" even though the file underneat has a different name. Can you do the foll:

a. Check what happens when u view the profile via the backend
b. Reproduce the same issue on our drupal demo server (yes i know u r on joomla)
c. if you can investigate and patch the issue that would be awesome :)

I will have my programmer look into it.

Thanks for the clarification Lobo - what you said makes since.

Thanks!

After I have uploaded the file to a Civi Field of Type File, any where in Civi/Joomla on the back end, the file name shows as one would expect.

But anything listed on the front end of Type file, displays the entire file name as it is pulled from Civi.

Is there a way to fix this so that on the Front End, it shows just the original file name?

I do not know how to reproduce a front end listing on the Demo site using Drupal and I have lost my link to the Joomla demo site, but I am quite sure that is when the file name is displayed on the front end.
