Import of state suddenly all wrong
January 06, 2011, 12:05:15 am
I do an import every month of new donors and their addresses. We use common abbreviations for US states, so CA = California, etc. This month it's all gone wrong and I'm getting 'Canelones' instead. Any idea why the behaviour would suddenly change?

What did you change between the previous import (that worked) and this one ?

Either the format of the file, the code, the environment on the server or the process has changed. (assuming that IT is a deterministic system, bit of an act of faith ;)

Good luck

Honest to god, didn't change a darn thing! I noticed that when I went in to edit the records manually that the state is not selected/defined, probably as the system recognises Canelores isn't a state of the US. So it seems that during the import the state is getting set first, with the first match to 'ca', and then the country. Again, I really don't think I've changed any settings.

This thread describes similar behavior, and I think I had found the cause, but haven't looked further.

We have been bitten by this bug also -- Is there a fix available? -- I changed the ones I have imported but I am looking at importing another 9000 names with multiple addresses --

thanks

No.

Would be great if you can investigate and submit a patch to fix this issue and/or hire someone to do the same

thanx
