Price Sets and ACL is there a way
January 12, 2011, 07:14:05 am
to have TWO price set for ONE event and the one that shows is relative to the users Group via the ACL setup.

Okay I think I know the answer is no way but just wondering if this is a feature coming up or?

For example
Price Set #1 for Attendee
But when a visitor comes to the site via logging in or a link in an email with a checksum, if they are in the ACL Group Speaker they see the Price Set #2 for them and not for Attendee Price Set #1 though they use the same Event registration form.

Thanks

Yes, it is not possible and i don't think it is in the roadmap for future releases. IMO best way would be to use hooks and implement this.

Thanks.

Just curions, since hooks can do this and be reused on other sites is this a feature that others are requesting as well or just not a best practice type feature?

i would potentially do the foll:

1. Create one combined price set

2. Use a hook to only show the fields needed based on group status

If the two groups have very different price sets, i would suggest using two events.

note that an event is associated with only one price set. so switching price sets on the fly will cause some issues in reporting / wierd bugs etc

Thanks,

I guess my hesitation about two events, it maybe I am missing the obvious, but seems then the CRM user has to do two reports, go two places to mark attendee status, email 2 sets of contacts etc?

That is why I tend to suggest one event.

dlobo just to be ready for next years conference what would have been the best way to do this with two event signups as you suggest?
Seems having 2 event signups to help manage 1 event would lead to issues. For example if it seats 50 and  10 sign up on the Speakers form and 42 on the other form etc.
One thought was making Events that link to other events so it is not really a new event but a different signup for that event that focuses on say Speakers.
