CSS/JavaScript Files Go "Missing" When Upgrading from 3.1.6 to 3.3.2
January 14, 2011, 07:45:25 am
I've tried upgrading our CiviCRM installation from 3.1.6 to 3.3.2 in our Joomla 1.5.22 install three or four separate times now.  I can get everything to upgrade smoothly until I try to go and view CiviCRM in the Joomla administrator.  When I do that, all of the CSS and JS file paths are wrong.  They are "packages/" instead of using the path to the CiviCRM installation on the site so all of the JS and CSS files get 404 errors.  They work fine in 3.1.6.

What could this be and how can I fix it?

After upgrade can you try deleting media/civicrm/templates_c folder? Clear browser cache and logout / login

Hi Kurund,

Good guess, but that wasn't the problem.  I actually tried that (flushing the media templates and logout/login) but for some reason the URL's to CSS and JavaScript files were always starting with "packages/" (a relative URL from the root of the Joomla admin) instead of an absolute path to the actual location of the CiviCRM install.  I tried this several times.

I'm not sure if it's relevant, but I always used the Joomla ALT installer.  I haven't tried the regular installer yet.  In the past, I've never been able to get the regular installs to work.

Any other thoughts on what this could be?

Can you check your civicrm.settings.php if  CIVICRM_UF_BASEURL is correctly set?

Then update: http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1&

Kurund.

This is how it's currently set in 3.1.6.  I'm not sure if it's getting reset when I upgrade or not.

define( 'CIVICRM_UF_BASEURL'      , 'https://www.mydomain.org/administrator/' );

Of course, the mydomain part is the domain of our site.

Do you think that this value may be getting reset during the upgrade process?

This looks correct to me and it should not reset after upgrade. You might want to check after upgrade.
