Incorrect Paths
January 15, 2011, 10:55:54 pm
I just installed civicrm and I am experiencing an issue with paths.  I have checked the resource urls and config files and everything appears to be correct.

For example, when I attempt to go to the administration console I receive a 404 error.  The url is:
mysite.com/joomla/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin&reset=1&

However, if I remove the 2 after index, the page loads correctly.
mysite.com/joomla/administrator/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin&reset=1&

All menu pages are exactly the same.  the path includes index2.php and gives the 404 error while removing the 2 so it is index.php allows the page to load.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You and me both - is it Joomla 1.6. Please be sure to put the answer here if you get it elsewhere. All my links are broken too and it just says 'loading...'.
My links also look similar:
index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/dashboard&reset=1&
and also if I remove the "2" after index it proceeds to the correct page.

Note that current release of CiviCRM is not supported for Joomla 1.6. CiviCRM 3.4 / 4.0 will support Joomla 1.6, so you should use Joomla 1.5.x

Thank you. Any timing for civCRM 3.4 so I can appear intelligent at the next planning meeting with my client? Joomla 1.6 is the only download offered on the Joomla page (I know you can still get it elsewhere but need to explain using old version to client)

I see this:
>>CiviCRM 3.4 and 4.0 go into feature freeze in about two-three weeks with the expected final stable version around the end of March. 4.0 will support Drupal 7 and Joomla! 1.6<<
and don't understand how they can both be available! I guess my answer is v4, end March and Joomla 1,6

probably not the best resolution but if you create a symlink of /joomla/administrator/index.php and call it index2.php then it works. It still doesn't appear in the joomla components menu though.

I ran into this same problem tonight.  I tried the soft link in mac os x but got other errors.  Went ahead and copied index.php to index2.php and all is well.   This is on a dev box so no worries about full support.   Glad to see the answer though on which rev of Joomla is supported.
