Improved Communications Preferences for Community Organizing/Political Campaigns
January 17, 2011, 02:28:17 pm
I wanted to post this to see if there's interest in changing how phone call preferences work in a future release.

Our organization works with low and moderate income families, and phone calls are our primary communication tool (to give you an idea of scale here, our staff make 200+ phone calls to members on any given day).

The default "Do not call" option only represents one in a series of possible communication preference we might have for a household.  Other options could include:
"Wrong Number"
"Not in service" (a number that is correct, but not currently working)
"Call after 6pm" (a preferred time of date for calls)
etc etc

Having an enhanced set of options like this and having it integrate into the new 'call lists' would be great, not sure if its a niche thing for us or if this is an area a lot of folks struggle with.

This is a common feature in call lists for political campaigns as well...  Thoughts?

One "workaround" for this might be to add options to / modify the existing "Phone Type" dropdown list on your site (currently Phone, Mobile, etc.). You can do this via Administer > Option Lists > Phone Types.
