Civimail sends out messages/email but fails on sending system messages...

I think I need to find out where the automated messages get generated - or what user they use for outbound smtp mail --

here is my issue -

in outbound mail settings if I use mail() all automated messages (opt outs / profile updates notices / subscribe messages work) Civimail work as well too a point -- I think my ISP has no auth in their email setup but a rate limit of 300 an hour - so my mailing list of 1,000 takes a day to process run multiple time.

I have CIVISMTP -- and when I set it up using SMTP I get the test mailing from the configuration just fine - and an email I have set up in CIVIMail (letters, newsletters) - but all the system messages are failing -- If I change a profile when civi tries to change it I get the message below:

but what I do not understand - if sending a test message from the config page works - and sending email from civimail works - why or where is the automated messages getting a user or configuration that is not working .....

anywhere else I should check on configuration ( The name and email in the Domain info is the same that is in CIVIMail BTW)

An error occurred when CiviCRM attempted to send an email (via SMTP). If you received this error after submitting on online contribution or event registration - the transaction was completed, but we were unable to send the email receipt.

The mail library returned the following error message:
authentication failure [SMTP: Authentication failed. (code: 221, response: sh.uas.coop closing connection. Have a wonderful day.)]

This is probably related to a problem in your Outbound Email Settings (Administer CiviCRM » Global Settings » Outbound Email), OR the FROM email address specifically configured for your contribution page or event. Possible causes are:

    * Your SMTP Username or Password are incorrect.
    * Your SMTP Server (machine) name is incorrect.
    * You need to use a Port other than the default port 25 in your environment.
    * Your SMTP server is just not responding right now (it is down for some reason).
    * The FROM Email Address configured for this feature may not be a valid sender based on your email service provider rules.

I would suggest checking your CiviCRM.log files located in

<root>/sites/default/files/civicrm/templates_c/en_US/ConfigAndLog

Save this file, then clear it and let the webserver create a new one fresh.  Now start testing.  Try to get the sending to work, and then try to get it to fail.  Check the log to see exactly what credentials are being used in each case and try to find why the SMTP sending is failing.

You could also ask your host to check the SMTP log files on the server.
