CiviMail Resending Old Mail Jobs

I just upgraded to 3.3.2. Before upgrade I had been successful at sending large mail jobs (19,000+ contacts) by sending in batches of 2000 emails, creating a group, and filtering out the addresses already sent to.

This was annoying, but since I was having trouble setting the cron job up, it was ok. But once I upgraded and tried to send out a new mail job it is now re-sending the old emails again when I manually run cron and it is not sending the new job.

It even appears to be mailing people that unsubscribed. Please help me figure this out. I am losing a lot of subscribers due to this unintentional spamming.

not sure i understand how you sent only 2000 emails per job. can u elaborate a lot more on all the changes you made and where

I was sending 2000 at once by putting 2000 as my batch limit. This was only to make the process more orderly and easily track how many per job. Please note, that batch was set to 2000 and job size was 19,000+, I would run cron manually and it would send to 2000 and then hang, not sending more emails even when cron was run again.

When I upgraded to 3.3.2 I made a new email and sent it out. When I ran cron manually the newest email did not send but it sent out past emails again. The new email is still not sending and I am afraid to run cron until I know that it will not continue sending out old emails again.

that was a bug in 3.3.1, which was fixed in 3.3.2. hence 3.3.2 send all the older still scheduled emails.

You might want to cancel all the mailings just to make sure older emails are not sent

Thanks! Upgrade fixed the issue of not sending all messages. And once I cancelled all my old email issues it stopped sending them out.

There still seems to be a bug in 3.3.2 that I've been able to replicate twice: canceling a mailing does not always cancel all child processes in civicrm_mailing_job.   

The result is that sometimes in the middle of sending a new list email out,  an old child process that was not cancelled starts running.

this is a bug in 3.3 and has been fixed for 3.4
