PayPal Standard says Not Found

I have a CiviContribute page using PayPal Website Payments Standard. The other day it worked, then I made a few edits to the page, like Title etc. and now paypal.com gives a 404 Not Found. This is the URL which I get to at PayPal:

http://tinyurl.com/2zqcul

Isn't this odd? What do I do? :)

What are you to do? Well for starters, remove the <h1> tag from the Title field of the Contribution Page. That will fix it!

(PS: This was indeed all it was)

What's your version of CiviCRM. It seem like you have incorrect redirect url to paypal.

Can you upgrade to latest v1.9. That should solve your problem.

"Powered by CiviCRM 1.9.12432." This is the latest AFAIK.

The issue was putting an <h1></h1> tag in the Title field. Removing that fixed the issue.

Can you try to replicate this on demo. If you are able to replicate then file an issue in jira and submit the patch.

Browse in IE (must use IE it seems) to :

and make a donation. I end up at a paypal page which says:

I have no patch. I created this 'bug' by using a <h1> tag in the Title field of the Contribution page. Remove that and it will work.

Since we include the page title in the name / value pairs passed to PayPal Std - including HTML tags in the title causes problems in the URL redirect. I've committed a fix for 2.0 to block tags / special characters in the Title field.

I was running into the same problem and found that it was an issue with what is in the title of the event. The client wanted the date listed as part of the event title. We had it with slashes at first (5/14/2008). That caused the weird URL not found error. Once we replaced it with hyphens (5-14-2008), PayPal checkout went fine.
